How Total Fishing Gear was Formed…
The TFG gear tackle range has been developed by a partnership between Matt Hayes and  Simeon Bond.  Matt Hayes needs no introduction at all we have all seen him on Total Fishing even if you are a non fisherman. Simeon and Matt have been friends for a long time . In the nineties, when Simeon was marketing manager for Shimano he hired Matt as a consultant and in so doing started Matt's  career that would see him hit the top of the TV angling tree with  shows like Total Fishing

When Matt Hayes decided it was time to produce his own tackle range in the form of Total Fishing Gear he did not think twice about persuading Simeon to join him and hence Matt Hayes fishing tackle was born TFG

It will come as no surprise to many of you that many rods are designed by factory engineers in the far east and tested by men wearing suits in offices: while one holds the butt of the rod, the other bends the tip round and eventually one of them declares ‘that will do!’

Matt Hayes was determined that this would not happen with Total Fishing Gear and every product that makes it to the TFG gear range has been tried and tested by either Matt or other top-level fishermen who are experts in their field; the match rods, for example, have been secretly tested by a leading fishing team; the carp blanks have been used and abused by fanatical ‘carpies’ and, of course, Matt Hayes has put all of the fishing rod blanks through their paces and personally handled several of the developments.

Total Fishing Gear products are not tested in the comfort of a factory or office: they are tested on the river bank, out in the wet and the mud where it really counts. After undergoing rigorous tests for action and performance, every fishing tackle item is carefully examined to establish whether major or minor improvements will improve its performance. Every product that makes it into the TFG range has had Matt Hayes hard work squeezed into it.
